Lockd started with a problem I kept running into myself.
I’d show up ready to train — focused, motivated, knowing exactly what I needed to do — and then my grip would give out before my muscles did. Bars slipping mid-set. Readjusting my hands. Breaking focus. Losing reps I knew I had in me. Not because I wasn’t strong enough, but because something as simple as grip kept failing me.
That frustration adds up.
It pulls you out of the moment. It breaks momentum. And over time, it chips away at consistency.
I tried different chalks and solutions, but most felt overdone, messy, or made for extremes I wasn’t chasing. On top of that, traditional chalk came with its own problems — chalk clouds hanging in the air, white marks left all over equipment, and that constant feeling of being that guy in the gym.
Gym staff hate cleaning it. Gym owners hate the mess. And as someone training in commercial gyms, I hated feeling like I was doing something wrong just to get a decent grip.
I didn’t want clouds of chalk, gimmicky branding, or something that felt out of place in a regular gym. I wanted something clean, reliable, and effective — something that let me focus on lifting, not fixing problems or worrying about the environment around me.
So I decided to build it.
